Takehito Koganezawa is always striving for simplicity in his work, whether working in drawing, video or performance. His drawings have both figurative and abstract qualities and through this he explores his imagination and encourages the view to set theirs free. A point of origin for his video is often daily life, using shots of neon signs, flying kites or a social activity, such as cooking is transformed by movement and rhythm.
Improvisation is key and he deliberately keeps his practice loose to allow for random incidents in both video and performance work. Often Koganezawa invites musicians and dancers to collaborate with him, but he chose to work alone for the performance at westlondonprojects.
